It is home for 1,500 students. These young people come from more than 110 countrieswith around 80 percent moving to Bremen for their studies. Jacobs University is also a “home” for over 900 students as they learn AND live during their studies on this very special campus in an international community.

With the highest standards in research and teaching, Jacobs University ranks among the top 25 percent of all universities worldwide.

TUITION FEES & EXPENSES

Bachelor and Master programmes: 20 000 €/per academic year for both EU/ non-EU

(except MSc Psychologie: 10 000 €/per academic year)

Enrollment Deposit (one time only) 500 €

Other expenses to keep in mind:
- University Fee (120 €) - covers fees for clubs and sports activities, student government fee, the graduation fees, etc. 

- Semester (Transportation) Tickets (480 €) - allows students to travel on local public transportation at no additional cost for the entire year (including local trains to neighboring cities like Hannover, Hamburg, Osnabrück, and Oldenburg).
- Broadcasting Fee (54 €) - mandatory for all residents of Germany and covers the cost of public television and radio broadcastings.
- Residence Permit (100 €) - required of all non-German students studying in Germany
- Health Insurance (1.260 €) - required of all students. You may be able to find less expensive health insurance from home, but you need to make sure that the insurance will cover all applicable costs in Germany.

Expenses such as: textbooks, health insurance (mandatory in Germany), residence permits, travel to and from home, as well as any additional personal expenses are not funded by the university.

Scholarships

Jacobs University Bremen awards partial scholarships to outstandingly motivated, socially engaged, excellent academic performers. These merit-based scholarships currently range from 2.500 up to 15.000 Euros. Moreover, EU students are eligible for a minimum guaranteed scholarship of 4.000€.

All applicants for the MSc in Data Science for Society & Business, the MSc Data Engineering and the MSc Supply Chain Management are considered for merit-based scholarships of up to € 12,000 per year.

Students with limited financial means can also apply for financial aid. The amount of a possible grant is determined based on a student’s financial need.

ACCOMMODATION

Undergraduate (Bachelor) students do not only study but also live and learn in one of university provided housing solutions. On university beautiful and secured university campus you can find lecture halls, research laboratories, excellent sports facilities, the campus theater and cinema, as well as the student bar and café within easy reach. Social activities ranging from dinner parties to large cultural events are the hallmark of our vibrant campus community.

Once you have been accepted to Jacobs University, you can give your preference in which of the four colleges (halls) you would like to live in. The fee for accommodation for one academic year (nine months) is 8000 Euro (covers the cost for your college room, basic utility expenses like heating, water, electricity, internet access, plus three meals per day for nine months (September to May)).

Graduate (Master) students do not live on campus but equally participate in the many social and cultural activities and countless events. Jacobs University is happy to provide its Graduate Students attractive and affordable accommodation off-campus in the city of Bremen (room only).
The fee for accommodation for one academic year (nine months) is 4000 Euro.

During the application process, students can decide whether they would like to use this service offered by our university or whether they prefer to find an individual accommodation on their own.

The earlier you apply, the earlier you will receive your admission decision, typically within 2 to 4 weeks of application submission. 

- EARLY DECISION - apply by November 1st, 2021 - 
Early Decision is the binding option for students who are committed to attending Jacobs University if admitted.

- EARLY ACTION - apply by December 1, 2021

- EARLY ACTION II - apply by February 1, 2021
Early Action I & II are early, non-binding application deadlines.

- ROLLING ADMISSION - June 1 / July 20, 2021:
June 1:
is the final application deadline for international students who require a visa to enter and study in Germany. 

July 20: is the final application deadline for EU/EEA citizens and citizens of the following countries that do not require a visa: 
United States of America (including the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Northern Mariana Islands), Andorra, Australia (including the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Norfolk Island, Christmas Island), Brazil, Canada, El Salvador, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand (including the Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau), San Marino, Republic of South Korea, Switzerland

Bremen is home to the Freimarkt, Germany‘s oldest funfair, and the traditional Christmas market is a popular destination not just for locals. The Schlachte area along the Weser River and the Viertel quarter are known for their vibrant nightlife. Bremen boasts a great cultural life with theater plays, concerts, festivals, or flea markets. You can enjoy the great outdoors, head down to the river Weser in the summer, or catch a band at one of the many clubs and music venues in town.

Students can go on excursions throughout the region. Centrally located in Europe, Bremen is an ideal starting point for trips to destinations such as Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Brussels, or Amsterdam, to name but a few. Bremen is also the only German city that has an international airport located within a ten-minute car ride of the city center.
